PETER S. LAKE
Peter Lake has been representing financial institutions, insurance companies and businesses for over 20 years. Peter graduated from Denison University in Granville, Ohio in 1982. While at Denison, Peter was a four year letterman and captain of his college football team and received academic and leadership recognition from Omicron Delta Epsilon and Omicron Delta Kappa. Peter received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky in 1985. Upon graduating from the University of Kentucky he started his practice in Chicago, Illinois where he represented health care providers, utility companies and stock and commodity brokers. He authored "Exchange Memberships: An Overview of the Issues Pertaining to the Property Rights of a Bankrupt Member and His Creditors" which was published in the Illinois State Bar Association, Corporation and Securities, Volume 33, No 1 in March of 1988.
In 1989 Peter accepted a position with this firm focusing his practice on legal malpractice defense work, commercial and business litigation, corporate organizations, creditor’s rights in bankruptcy, employment law, the appointment of guardians and conservators, judicial authorizations for medical treatments, real estate and business transactional work.
Peter is a member of the Virginia Bar Association, the Virginia State Bar, the Norfolk/Portsmouth Bar Association and the Virginia Beach Bar Association. He is licensed to practice before all Virginia State and Appellate Courts, the United States District Court, Eastern and Western Districts, the United States Court of Appeals, and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern and Western Districts.
Peter has lectured at numerous continuing legal education programs and business seminars on topics including legal malpractice defense, corporations, mechanic's liens, notary public duties and responsibilities, real estate, foreclosure practices and creditor’s rights in bankruptcy.
Peter has been recognized on the front page of the national publication Lawyers Weekly USA and has litigated several cases rendering published opinions in the United States District Court, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Bankruptcy Court and the Virginia Supreme Court.
Peter is a shareholder of McKenry, Dancigers, Dawson & Lake, P.C. in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Peter enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, boating and traveling.
