JOHN P. WILLIAMSON

John Williamson joined MDDL’s insurance subrogation team in 2011.  A Virginia Beach native, John attended James Madison University and began working in various aspects of real estate ranging from sales and leasing to mortgage origination and construction.  John was also the managing partner for a real estate investment LLC.

In 2007, John attended the University Of Tulsa College Of Law.  John served as the Managing Editor of the Tulsa Law Review, earned the John W. Hager Award for the most outstanding student in tort law, the Oklahoma Bar Business Association Award for the highest grade in corporate law and various CALI awards.  John also participated in various moot court competitions including the AAJ Trial Competition and the PACE Environmental Law Appellate Competition.  During law school, John worked at the law firm of Atkinson, Haskins, Nellis, Brittingham, Gladd, and Carwile as a law clerk performing various aspects of insurance defense litigation, served as a summer law clerk for the Hon. Paul J. Cleary Federal Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Oklahoma and was a research assistant to Associate Dean Tamara Piety at the University of Tulsa.  After earning his certificate in Resource, Energy and Environmental Law, he graduated summa cum laude and as a member of the Order of the Curule Chair and Order of the Barristers.   He is admitted to the Virginia Bar and the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Virginia and a member of the Norfolk Portsmouth Bar Association.  

When out of the office, John enjoys spending time with his wife, baby girl, and two dogs.  John is also an avid reader and can usually be found at the beach or the various dog parks throughout the area.
