GEORGE J. DANCIGERS
George has been litigating matters for carriers and their insureds since 1977. He is a 1971 graduate of Virginia Military Institute and a 1976 graduate of the University of Richmond Law School, George is a frequent lecturer on Professional Ethics and Workers’ Compensation and has authored or co-authored articles in numerous publications, including the University of Richmond Law Review.
George is a member of the Virginia Bar Association, Virginia State Bar, Norfolk Portsmouth Bar Association, Virginia Beach Bar Assoication, Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, and DRI. He is licensed to practice before all Virginia state and appellate courts, the United States District Court, Eastern and Western Districts, and the United States court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit. He is a past Chairman of the Virginia State Bar, Second District Committee on Lawyer Discipline, in 1994. He was the chairman of the Norfolk Portsmouth Bar Association Committee on Fee Disputes.
Effective July 1, 2001, George Dancigers was appointed by the Virginia Supreme Court to Virginia's Continuing Legal Education Board. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys.
George has authored or co-authored numerous publications including: Bad Faith Litigation in Virginia, the section on Related Causes of Action, N.B.I., Inc., 1993; 2005; Law of Damages in Virginia, the section on Damages for Injuries to the Person, including Wrongful Death, Virginia Law Foundation 1995; and Civil Practice & Procedure, University of Richmond Law Review, Annual Survey of the Law, 1991, 1992, 1998.
George specializes and has represented carriers and their insureds in various types of cases, including litigating cases involving product liability, professional malpractice, coverage disputes, automobile cases, mass torts and workers’ compensation cases.
George is a shareholder with, and President of the firm of McKenry, Dancigers, Dawson & Lake, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He in his time away from the practice truly enjoys and appreciates traveling and being around the waters of the tidewater area.
